Fun Filled 4th

We kicked off the 4th of July with fireworks at the city park on 4th of July Eve. Ryker slept through them, Jaxon covered his ears. It was a pretty good show, but we were too far away from the music to hear that they were choreographed.

We went to our city's parade the morning of the 4th. Again, Ryker slept through it and Jaxon covered his ears. Well, only during the blaring sirens. The rest of the parade was filled with candy, friends, prizes, and good old fashioned country fun.

Jaxon and Ryker waiting for the parade to start
Only in the country do you see a parade full of
tractors....

Spray painted horses (bizarre!)....
Santa Claus throwing candy canes. Seriously, who comes up with these things?!?!
After the parade we walked down to the park to enjoy some of the festivities. One of the best things about our little town is that on the 4th everything for the kids is free. The night of the 3rd they even have a free dinner for all the residents. How cool is that?

Here is Jaxon petting an albino boa constrictor, I think. I mean, I know it's Jaxon I just don't know for sure if it's a boa.

He was trying to put on a brave face in front of the iguana. I think he was afraid that if he took his eyes off it the iguana would pounce on him. Smart boy.

Enjoying the bounce house.

After the parade my family went to my sister's place for a little picnic. Living in a mortuary sure has it's perks. Approx. 64 acres of grass. Pretty flowers. No traffic. The biggest house on the street. They live there for free, too! The only catch is that they are on-call every 3 weeks, oh and anytime someone kicks the bucket her husband has to go get them and bring 'em back to the basement. Since they were house-bound on the 4th we took the party to them.

We rode bikes

Played catch Found treasures.....17 cents and a golf ball. Score! We ended the day with a barbecue in Perry with Brian's family and the Brigham City fireworks. Jaxon did much better with these fireworks. He even uncovered his ears for some of them. (Next year is the year of no fear...cross our fingers!) Ryker was awake for these fireworks and didn't seem to mind them one bit. When Brian and Uncle Brady let off fireworks at his parents house, Jaxon had a blast. "Again! Again!! Again!!!
