A Very Busy Boy

If the dishwasher is open, he's in the dishwasher. If the pantry is open, he's in the pantry. If the fridge is open,...you get the idea.

This little boy is BUSY!

He also likes to climb....everything he can get his little legs onto! (Yes, he climbs up ALL of our stairs all by himself!) Oh, boy!! He's one very busy guy!

When he's not moving you will notice:

he has 6 teeth...and a couple more trying to come in

he claps

he throws everything he can get in his hands

he loves his binky and blanket esp. when he's tired or sad

he likes to play Peek-a-Boo

he laughs

he loves being outside

he likes to swing

Happy Birthday, Ryker!

Can it be? Can this adorable little guy really be 1?!?

To celebrate his birthday we went to the park near our house with all the family.

I didn't know what kind of cake to make Ryker. Let's see...what does he love? His blanket, binky, brother, the BATH! When I saw the bathtub cake I knew that is the one he would love (if he could express his birthday cake wishes that is). Of course I had to make a cake he could actually eat (dairy and egg free)...that would be the boring cake on the right. I would have frosted it if I could find a store that sold soy yogurt. (If you've seen it anywhere please let me know...I hear they also make soy cheese (yuck!))

He blew out his candle all by himself!! It helps that every time he wakes up we make him spit his binky back into his crib...and with a "puff" he does that. So when it came time to blow out his candle I said "Spit!" (which grossed everyone else out!) and he blew it out! It was great!! He didn't care for the cake (it was actually really yummy!) mostly because of the texture. He took a couple of little tastes and then wanted his hands washed off. Such a tidy little boy!!

We roasted hot dogs in the fire pit, played on the toys, ate cake and ice cream, and had a great time visiting with family and playing with aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. We are so lucky to live by our families. I love that our boys' best friends are their cousins!

Field Tripping

Jaxon's preschool class went on a field trip to a local veterinarian clinic. They were able to see some cats and dogs who had had surgery earlier in the day as well as some animals that were staying in the kennels while their owners were out of town.

They learned how to take a dog's blood pressure (on their tongue...who knew?)They saw some animal x-rays of broken bones, a swallowed penny, and even an x-ray of a pregnant dog. Can you see all those tiny puppy skeletons?! So cool!! Often time they take x-rays before a dog delivers puppies so they have an idea how many there are.

While the trip to the vet clinic was very interesting, the highlight was being able to ride with Brinlee, because little Miss Brinlee "is very pretty, mom, and she's my friend".

Another field trip was to Red Robin in Layton.

On the left Jaxon is coloring in the menu....oohh, so fun! And on the right they're chillin' in the big fridge!

Next they learned how to properly wash their hands. They had this magic lotion that the kids rubbed all over their hands, then they went into the restroom and washed their hands really good. When they came back they put their hands under a black light so they could see what they missed on their hands. Fingernails. Every kid failed to wash their fingernails. We've been working on that.

They were also given some yummy snacks (the mom's too!)....strawberry lemonade and mozzarella sticks. Mmmmmm! Two of my favorite things!

The highlight of the trip? They met Red Robin himself! Here Jaxon is giving Red a high-five. I'm glad he was nice to Red. There were other children there that pulled on his beak, hit him in the back, and kicked him in the shin. Seriously!?! Of course those little devils were the exception and the majority just wanted to hug him.

Case of the Blah-Dee-Da-Blah-Blah-BLAHS

I realize that we are approaching the end of April and I haven't posted a single thing. Not that there isn't anything worth posting, after all we've had birthdays, and Wicked, and new jobs coming our way. But I'm not going to catch up today. You see the boys are sick, well, mostly Ryker today, Brian has been out of town (and returning tonight), and I've been trying my hand at being a more active mom...less time on the computer and more time in the playroom.

So although I've had a serious case of the Blog Blahs I will not let April pass without documenting our milestones...for my sake if nothing else.

Until then, I'm off to take a nap. Heaven knows I need it!!
